September 15 to October 15 is recognized as National Hispanic Heritage Month in America. This month is chosen as a nod to the anniversaries of national independence for a number of Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua all recognize September 15 as the date of their independence, while Mexico's independence is celebrated September 16 and Chile celebrates its independence September 18.
In honor of the Latinx community and its many positive contributions to the United States of America, one of the ways we can celebrate is by cooking the delicious flavors of the distinct cuisines from Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean Islands, Spain and other parts of the world. Food brings us together.
